I am not done revealing retreat projects! Todays retreat project was also a color challenge (we really like color challenges). In addition, we chose to use the "Rooted In Nature" bundle. The colors were: Pineapple Punch, Pumpkin Pie and Shaded Spruce. Ah, and we decided to add the challenge to distress our cards using "Timeless Textures", which is an absolute must have stamp set for me!. I pulled out the coffee cup stain stamp to use because I have not had the occasion to use it and I wanted to put it on the Pineapple Punch focal layer.

I cheated a little in that the only element from "Rooted In Nature" was a die cut sentiment "Thinking". My own challenge to myself for the retreat was to use up as much DSP as possible.

This project uses a piece of DSP from three different sets: a very dark wood image from "Wood Textures", a Shaded Spruce DSP from Tranquil Textures and a Pumpkin Pie DSP from Artistic Expressions. I used the stitched rectangles dies to cut the smaller pieces down. Then I distressed the edges with snips. A tip for distressing, if you use a stitched die and then distress it, you get a much stronger distressed look because of the stitched impressions in the cardstock has in essence already started to distress the cardstock.

The sentiment was done in two parts, first "thinking" was stamped on Whisper White, then fussy cut, and the lined stamp from "Timeless Textures" was stamped horizontally in Sahara Sand. Sahara Sand was then sponged along the edges. The second part of the sentiment was handwritten on the Pineapple Punch layer using a .3 multi liner pen.

I used some tan Nature's Twine, wood floral elements from an old Paper Pumpkin and finished it off with small Pineapple Punch enamel dots which are in the Occasions catalog.

Here is Libby's project:

It always amazes me how different our cards turnout. I lover her heart wood elements and the edge stamping using the multiple colors of the filigree stamp from "Timeless Textures". The offset stitched oval is a perfect label for the sentiment and I love all of her distressing.

All of these project are from the annual catalog which is available through May or while supplies last. Mid month, all demonstrators will see the new catalog and around that time a carry over list will be provided. Now is the time to get anything that you have on your wish list in case it is not going to carry over into next years catalog.

If you are looking for a demonstrator, I would love to have the honor. I enjoy helping others along their crafting adventure, whatever their goals may be. I do offer FREE gifts when you use the current monthly host code.
