Today's continuing brake issues include a fire! Yup, the front braks caught fire and thank goodness we stopped when we did. Hub had properly prepared for something bad to happen and he used the emergency water in the truck to put the fire out. I have created a video with images and a more detailed explanation of what's been going on. I finish with some shout outs to all the helpful folks that...

Ingram Texas Truck Brake Repair | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We are almost through Texas, which is not one of our favorites states. Yesterday was going to be our last night there, but... our truck's front brakes started grabbing on I10 while we were cruising along... scary stuff. They smoked and smelled horrible so we thought it would be best to get them inspected and fixed before going any further.

We had not experienced any braking issues until...

Florida To Arizona Day One| Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We left Florida today. It was probably as bad a day for travel as can be, short of a hurricane or something. I have seen some really heavy rain in my day but this mornings rain was something else. We spend the first hour of our drive on city streets with lots of stop and gos and it rained, and rained...and rained some more! Finally we made it to I75 and shortly thereafter, the sun came out....

I am not sure if I've talked about this already, but for Hub and I the internet is at the very top of our priority list. It is a NEED not a WANT.

When we sold our home and moved to my mom's, our mifi device at the time did not work down in the hole where we parked our fifth wheel. She has a pasture that is below her home. It made for a very private...

I was an IT web professional for over twenty years. I know what the laws are around email advertising. As such I am very, very careful with whom I create an account with and I ALWAYS turn off email advertising in my profile. So, we are searching for property and I caved in and created an account on realtor.com the day before Thanksgiving. I specifically left the box unchecked for partner...

highway 66 | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

On the way back up to Peace River, hub opted to take 27 back in lieu of 41. We saw lots of cane fields, and burning cane fields. After dealing with Pacific Northwest fires all summer, it was very sad to have to drive that way seeing the haze in the sky and the smell of burning. Eventually we turned onto 66, which is the highway we take to go play disc golf at the YMCA.

We were about 10...

Our Florida Keys Journey - Part One - From Homestead To Big Pine Key

We left Peace River bright and early in the morning. I chose driving along 41 through the Everglades. It was an uneventful three and a half hours. Our arrival was much more interesting than the drive. This resort is actually almost 100% mobile homes. The turn in to the gate house was so shallow we could not get ourselves moved into the center lane out of everyone's way. While I was trying to...

Peace River Thousand Trails | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

At first Peace River looks like a sleepy campground, which it is, compared to Orlando. But after a week at each Florida resort I am surprised at which one wins for us.  Drum roll.......  Peace River! And yes, the pictured signs are all along the river's edge...good thing we are not overly scared of either, cautious yes, but more curious than anything, and no we didn't see either one!

Orlando Thousand Trails - Like No Other TT!

I am so happy with our decision to stay at the Orlando Thousand Trails. We are already scheduled to be here in November, but we needed a place to escape from Hurricane Michael and this was the furthest south and east we could get in our driving window of four to six hours. It was six and a half hours if you avoided the toll road, just over six hours if you went on it. Because we tend to drive...

This is going to be short. I just wanted to confirm that we arrived in one piece, well ahead of Hurricane Michael. I am SOOOO glad we changed our schedule!

We are in a lovely HUGE campground that is by far the nicest of the Thousand Trails we've been to. I have some video footage to process for another day... It is very close to all the amusement parks, you can watch the fireworks at...
