We were hesitant to continue heading south through mid July. We have to turnaround and head up to Washington state for a craft retreat I am going to in September and thought we might be going too far away. After some debate decided to stick with our original plan and go to San Benito. It was a 3 1/2 hour drive and because of accidents on the major highways we took backroads through the farming...

Thoughts About Our Russian River Stay

Afternoon Shade at Russian River

We made a list of the seven Thousand Trails resorts we've stayed at and sorted them from favorite to least favorite. Russian River is right at the top. It is interesting that it made it that high because it has no sewer, we were there in a heat wave and had many days in which we were miserable because of the weather. The grounds are hilly and the camping sites are very close together. There...

Basement Storage Strategy | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We have owned a large selection of Rubbermaid storage tubs in a variety of sizes for many years. After checking out how they stack up in our basement storage compartment, we settled on  a matched size set of 6 tubs to use.

Last fall we sorted what would be stored in the barn rafters and what would be travelling with us. As we packed I casually labeled what was in each tub, but wasn't...

Sponged Floral Thinking Of You Card | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

I'd finished the other cards and did not feel like I'd explored all of the options with this flower set. I really wanted to do a sponged masked CAS style card. I thought these bold flowers would look nice over a sponged background, but I did not want to do my typical full sponged background.

Daring myself to be different, I masked leaving a 2" vertical strip of space (I discovered that...

Wood and Flower Card #2

Wood and Flower Just A Note Card | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

For the second version of this card I wanted a teal thin mat. I also picked a different ribbon material, crinkle. This background was actually a "reject" and I fixed it by sponging the edges with Early Espresso. I also used a reject flower focal image that I'd accidently stamped the flowers in taupe, then offset that with the teal. After pondering whether it could be used I decided it was just...

Wood and Flower Great Day Card | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

When I pulled out the flower stamp set, I also pulled out a background that I have never used. Yup, I have a wood plank 6 x 6 that has never been inked. I inked it up using Stampin' Up Early Espresso. I had color matched recollections cardstock to Stampin' Up's Tip Top Taupe.

I knew I wanted the bottom half of the card wood. I used Stampin' Up Island Indigo for the flowers and Tip Top...

Russian River Resort Our Spot - Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We set out early this morning on a four hour jaunt down Highway 101 going from Klamath RV Park down to Cloverdale. Because of all of the damage done to the highway over the winter, it took us over five hours. I don't envy motorcycles on this part of 101 at all! Both days were grueling. We are now staying at Russian River Resort.

We arrived just before 2pm. This resort was someone's wild...

Black and Tan Smile CAS Card

Black and Tan Smile CAS Card | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

I made this project in conjunction with the previous post. the background was a stamp off of an acrylic block using Stampin' Up Tip Top Taupe. i chose to make this very CAS sans any ribbon. I was very tempted to add more than just the leaf sprig but refrained for fear I would ruin it. I chose the swirly smile sentiment from Happy Snippets.

I am entering this project in the following...

I wanted to try my hand at a distressed parchmentish looking card. I picked a smaller acrylic block and covered it with Stampin' Up's Tip Top Taupe ink. I like how the edge ink makes it look like a frame. I made a second stamp off for a lighter look and used the leaf. I then used Memento Black ink for the flower. For the ribbon color match I chose Copic Sketch E44. This was the first time...

There is this huge gap/lack of Thousand Trails Resorts from southern Oregon through northern California. The time to get from South Jetty to Russian River was 8 1/2 hours, too long for our liking on highway 101 which is grueling. We had to go to one of our other camping memberships to find a halfway spot to stay. We found one at Klamath River through RPI for $10/night with a 2 night minimum....
