Storage Bin for Cardstock | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

I have had to purchase very specific storage solutions to fit in the odd shaped spaces in our RV. Four shelves I use for crafting storage are tall and narrow on either side of the fireplace. I searched long and hard for appropriate bins to slip into these slots.

I currently have six bins of this shape, four fit on these shelves, the other two fit under my side of the bed. Our bed has an overlap of about 7 inches deep all around it and I discovered I can stack these two high under me. It is amazing the clever places one finds to store things when space if very limited! This is the first in a series of articles exploring how I have stored items in our tiny home.

The storage container shown in the video is made by: HOMz and it is 7.5 qt (16.25in x 7in x 6.125in). I bought mine at Ace on sale, I see you can still purchase them from Ace and there is a blue handle version sold at other stores and amazon.

This video focuses only on two bins that I use for cardstock.

  • Bin 1: 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock cut to A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") fits horizontally or vertically in this size bin.
  • Bin 1: Christmas theme dies fit on 5 1/2 square doubled file folder stock (next in the series: dies - which I give a sneak peek of fit into these bins, I have one dedicated to dies.
  • Bin 1: With the Christmas dies I have some mini folders holding prepared designs for those times when I want to craft, but not be creative. I will elaborate on these in a later series.
  • Bin 2: 12 x 12 cardstock cut down to 4 x 6s are a shade too long and thus curl slightly so I lay them flat. most of my 12 x 12 sheets are patterned cardstock.
  • Bin 2. Cardbases cut vertically in half - 4 1/2 x 11,tent card shaped to lay flat. I store these on top of the 4 x 6 patterned cardstock.

Note: These bins do NOT store 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 cardstock pieces flat which is why I no longer store that shape for cardmaking. I do keep some 8 1/2 x 11 sheets stashed away for special projects. It does require unpacking other items to get to the full size sheets so I find I don't make custom cards very often.
