Thoughts About Our Russian River Stay

Afternoon Shade at Russian River

We made a list of the seven Thousand Trails resorts we've stayed at and sorted them from favorite to least favorite. Russian River is right at the top. It is interesting that it made it that high because it has no sewer, we were there in a heat wave and had many days in which we were miserable because of the weather. The grounds are hilly and the camping sites are very close together. There...

Basement Storage Strategy | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We have owned a large selection of Rubbermaid storage tubs in a variety of sizes for many years. After checking out how they stack up in our basement storage compartment, we settled on  a matched size set of 6 tubs to use.

Last fall we sorted what would be stored in the barn rafters and what would be travelling with us. As we packed I casually labeled what was in each tub, but wasn't...

Klamath RV park | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

There is this huge gap/lack of Thousand Trails Resorts from southern Oregon through northern California. The time to get from South Jetty to Russian River was 8 1/2 hours, too long for our liking on highway 101 which is grueling. We had to go to one of our other camping memberships to find a halfway spot to stay. We found one at Klamath River through RPI for $10/night with a 2 night minimum....

South Jetty RV Park - Home Six | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We realized in mid May that we needed to figure out where to stay over Memorial Weekend. When We called, the first place we asked about was full (Russian River) so then we asked about the furthest south coastal Thousand Trails in Oregon, South Jetty. There was one opening, so we took it.

This is a smaller park with less amenitites and activities compared to the other Oregon coastal...

Whaler's Rest RV Park | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

Oh if we'd only known the surprise that awaited us at Whaler's Rest RV Park! When we arrived, I checked us in and then we perused the park map to figure out which direction to go. These parks are HUGE, over 300 spots per location. Many loops to consider and in some cases sewer or electric limitations. DH noticed an icon on the upper left corner of the map on the North side of the road (this...

Seaside RV Park | Tracy Marie Lewis

We only had a 40 minute drive into Oregon for our next stop. So far we've not made any reservations. We tend to be more spontaneous and haven't adopted the 3 week schedule that so many Thousand Trails members who full time use. Our membership allows us to stay in a single park 21 days, then we have to move to a different park (it can be a Thousand Trails property) for 7 days, then we can come...

Home Three - Very Nice For Walking

Having no internet at our rig makes keeping up on our travels a challenge. I am amazed at how little we actually accomplish each day. Without fail, we workout as our health was a primary reason for taking this journey. There isn't enough space for us both to work out and the space we use doubles as my office space. We work out first thing so we can roll up the workout mat and slide my desk in...

Home Three And We are Finally Too Far To Easily Visit Family | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We finally decided we'd prepared all that we could and it was time to leave our home base area. For our first journey far from home, we chose a 4 1/2 hour drive to the Thousand Trails near Long Beach. Of course it was dumping rain when we arrived and most spots were under water. We chose a spot that looked like it would not pool any water on the door side of the trailer. It did have a small...

Our New Home In LaConner | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

We moved from Birch Bay Thousand Trails down to LaConner. What a difference. It is like night and day between the two locations. Each has its plusses and minuses. Birch Bay was flat and had major water issues. We chose a pull through spot on a hill this time. We did choose a sewer spot again which has been lovely.

We've now been here over a week and the biggest issue is lack of cell or...

Saw Sweetie On Day Three | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

Our first days have been spent getting ourselves organized. We have experienced some unforeseen issues with using our broadband data. 1. Steam is a gaming platform that rocks, but it also auto-updates in the background and 2. OneDrive is the devil! I only sync a few folders but made the mistake of switching to DHs login and voila - 2 gig eaten up in short order before I realized that his...
