April 2019 Stamp N Hop | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

I am hopping with the Stamp 'N Hop crew today. We are a group of global Stampin' Up! demonstrators who hop on the second saturday each month. If you are on the hop, you just came from Mo's inspiration, and hopefully you left a comment for her.

If you are starting the hop on my blog, welcome! I hope our creations will inspire you to make something today.

Our theme for April is "girls" which of course has all sorts of interpretations. I wanted to think of something a little bit different. Then it hit me, HORSES! I grew up a horse crazy little girl whose parents made the mistake of buying me a horse when I was 11 years old. My mom was also horse crazy, so the horse was really shared by both of us. I was in 4-h and competed in western games. Our shared horse wasn't a very well trained horse but she put up with all of my kid antics so I cannot complain.

Then what did I do? I decided after getting married that I wanted to be involved with horses so I worked at a stable for a reining/cowhorse/all around training couple. Within a year I bought a young Quarter Horse from them to train and show. I spent the next 25 years showing Quarter Horses in all sorts of events. The horses I owned as an adult were very well trained and a couple of them won me alot of money and prizes.

With all that history in mind, I created a video revealing what I feel are the best current Stampin' Up! supplies to use to make horse theme cards that the western horse owner will enjoy and appreciate. I focused more on the person who shows in western events.  Video length: 11 min 18 sec

I should state here that the three horse images in the stamp set "Let It Ride" are great neutral images that you can dress up any number of ways, western, english, dressage or trail. I focus on western because that is what I spent the most time competing in.

In the video I state that I colored this running horse to look like my mom's new horse. He is an Icelandic horse and is only 13.3 hands, whereas her Rocky Mountain horse is 15.3 hands. She even owns a miniature horse and the three are quite comical when running around out in her pasture.

This horse head looks like a reining, cow or ranch horse to me and I gave him a wide blaze.

I stamped the grazing horses on the envelopes, I really like these horses uncolored.

I hope you like my two cards.  Don’t forget to leave a comment before you hop to Rebecca-Jo and see her lovely project. Just click on the arrow below. If you get lost along the hop, you can use the blog hop list below to help guide you along.
