Thinking Of You Tree Watercolor Card | Tracy Marie Lewis an independent Stampin' Up demonstrator

I have had this project on my to do list for some time. The Sheltering Tree Stamp Set from Stampin' Up is one of my favorites. I recently played with inking up a block for a background with another set and knew I wanted to do the same with this set. I stayed with colors from nature, green and blue for greenery and sky.

I also wanted to shave a clean and simple (CAS) look for this card. It was quick to make. I use ink spot sized ink pads since I travel and have very little room. Stampin' Up sells their 1" ink spot blanks and I buy refills to fill them. Unfortunately the only way to get a pre-colored ink spot is in their kits and I do have some of those as well.

I picked an acrylic block in the size I wanted, I ran my sky colored ink spot horizontally across the top half and then ran the green across the bottom. I wanted a horizontal line look. Then I applied the colored block to the cardstock. I am able to get two to three prints from one application of ink, each one is lighter than the previous one. I will sometimes spritz the block with water depending on how watery I want the image to look.

I then put my cardstock in my MISTI and lined up the tree where I wanted it. I used Early Espresso ink for the tree and was able to apply the ink until I was satisfied. I wanted a solid brown tree and the MISTI allows me to keep applying the stamp in the exact stamp location each time. I then applied the sentiment using the MISTI. This sentiment is from the same stamp set. I left the image pretty large and cut a brown thin mat and applied that to the cardbase.

I am entering this project in the following challenges:
