I had a lovely day fifteen of the 30 day coloring challenge. I took the opportunity to pull out ALL of my stampscapes stamps to show my mom. We each made our own scene. She is out of her black ink so I let her create her scene using my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and I tried one using Memento London Fog ink. It did not come out too bad. I chose a daytime scene to go along with the lighter overall coloring.

I used Copics to color and as you will see by my color list I stayed in the lightest tones. I did a tiny bit of fine lining in 5, other than that the darkest I went was a 2. I did alot of white gel pen and then took my bright gel pens to make a tiny pop of color at the cabin. I've wanted a few more Stampscapes stamps for some time, but could not justify the shipping expense. I was pleased that my mom wanted to start her own collections so I could get the few additional ones I've been wanting.

Let's see, the Stampscapes I used from top to bottom: Cloud with sun 107E (multiple stampings to complete the sky, 1 full stamp, and multiple partial stamps), Rocky Peaks 188F - one stamping, Lakeside Cabin 147F - one stamping, Water 231C - multiple stampings, Lilly Grass 295C - multiple stampings, Crane in Water 163A - one stamping, Reeds LG 068D - multiple stampings. I am not sure what strategy is best for creating a scene, but here is what works for me. I begin with my focal stamp, in this case, the Lakeside Cabin stamp. I knew I wanted to keep the finished size at A2. I've not had much success with smaller scenes so I was determined to have success.

This scene was my second try. The pixelated style used on these stamps allow for generous overstamping, but I find I do need to mask certain elements, like the cabin to protect the roof. I also masked the mountain range prior to stamping the sky, the white spaces of the peaks, needed to stay white. Coloring is different. you are coloring spaces, not objects. The objects are already going to be grey or black. after using the lightest colors for a first layer. Next I darkened a few key areas, but stayed on the lighter side. I used three superfine nib Copics to bring out certain details. I had to tread very lightly with the superfine pens.

I popped on a Simon Says Stamp Banner, but plan to change it out when the time comes for the perfect use of this masculine scenery card.
