May 2018 Stampin Dreams Blog Hop - New Catalog Sneak Peek
Today I am joining the Stampin Dreams blog hop where we are giving sneak peeks of the new catalog which will go live on June 1. My name is Tracy Marie and I am staying in the Pacific Northwest, in Washingon state for the summer. I was so fortunate to have received my new catalog pre-order in time to create a bunch of cards to share today. I hope you like them! Be sure to follow along the rest of the hop for more inspiration. Feel free to leave comments, all of us along the hop love to hear from you!
I had decided to make my crafting penpals Mother's Day cards. So, as soon as my pre-order package arrived I got to work. First things first, was to organize the new colors. Re-inkers and uninked Stampin' Spots had to be married together so it was a bit more work than if buying the ink pads. Alas, because I travel full time there isn't room for full sized ink pads. Once that task was complete the real work began.
It was fun making these cards, but there was pressure to finish and mail them all that day. My penpals live close by but the cards still need a full day to get to their destinations. I made these at my mom's, she commented that I always do better under pressure.
Here are the cards, with a quick summary of what was used on them. Note that all current available products are listed below, but the sneak peek items cannot be linked until June 1. I was somewhat conservative with popping up the layers as well as placing of the dots since all of these had to be mailed out.
First I made a card using two stamp sets "Lilypad Lake" and "Pressed Flowers" (a host stamp set). I wanted to make a full ombre background using the "Lilypad Lake" water stamp. Ink and cardstock used: Night of Navy and Balmy Blue. The sun outline is from "Lilypad Lake", but I flubbed and fixed it using a smaller sun from the current stamp set "Waterfront". Sun color - Daffodil Delight. Sentiment and sponging - Memento Tuxedo Black. Embellishments - Black Faceted Dots from the new catalog.
The sentiment layers are dies from "Stitched All Around", the sentiment was cut using the smaller "Lilypad Lake" banner die. I also used black lace from the clearance section to attach the Balmy Blue banner layer to the card front. The 1/8" white ribbon was colored with a new Balmy Blue marker. I purchased both "Lilypad Lake" and "Stitched All Around" as bundles to save 10%. I also bought a full set of Many Marvelous markers to replace marker sets that I lost in our accident.
Now on to the colorful "Garden Impressions" DSP cards.
Retiring Glitter Enamel Dots were added to many of the cards because they matched so well. You can still buy them through May or while supplies last. I am very tempted to get one more set. I also used the Myths and Magic glimmer paper for various layers on the cards. The glimmer paper is also available while supplies last (Both had inventory on 5/16) and are listed below.
For the next card, I used a colored base in Crushed Curry and the "Stitched All Around" die layer is Calypso Coral. For this card, the matching "Myths and Magic" washi has been used for the wainscot trim to match the round glimmer paper die cut. Glitter Dots added the finishing touch. I made this card using colors from last year to show how well both hte new AND old colors work with this DSP.
It is hard to pick a favorite, but this card might be it. The sentiment layer used both "Lilypad Lake" banner dies, with a scalloped oval layer in between. Gold metallic as well as 3/8" white weave ribbon were used. This one also received a popped up stitched heart and Glitter Dots.
Next up is a card that uses a special stitched die that is not a cut out, it is a pattern and is also from the "Stitched All Around" die set. I used it on the Blueberry Bushel background layer. I like the extended uses for dies that I see these days. I accented that pattern with a matching Jeweled Dot in Soft Sea Foam.
The Friend sentiment was stamped on another very small banner from the "Stitched All Around" bundle. This sentiment was cut using Layering Oval dies and the flowers are from the "Happy Birthday Gorgeous" stamp set. Soft Sea Foam Jeweled Dots were placed in the flower centers. Silver Metallic thread added a little more sparkle.
Are you still with me? We are not done yet. I will wake you up now with this bright card! For the background, the "Softly Falling" embossing folder was used. Mango Melody and Lovely Lipstick are the new colors used. Behind the round die cut layer is another "Myths and Magic" glimmer paper die cut which is tied to the banners using thick white baker's twine. Again, last years Glitter Enamel Dots finished the card perfectly.
Alas, Now it is time for the final card. Both sides of this DSP went so well together I was able to do a fold technique that I've always liked.
This sentiment used Layering Ovals on the bottom, with the green glimmer paper from "Myths and Magic" right under the sentiment. I hand cut fish tails on both sides. This concludes my sneak peek, I hope you liked it!

What a great bunch of cards!
What a great bunch of cards! I agree that the banner dies in the Lily pad lake framelits create some nice layering opportunities with other shaped dies. So nice to see your ideas.
