Masculine Tree & Ferns Sympathy Card

Another loved one has passed away. It is so sad when this happens. I know it is a part of life, but it doesn't make it any easier. And this person wasn't even related to me, but I still felt sad. I needed three sympathy cards.
One card needed to be masculine. I showed hub a few options but he didn't like any of them. I made this from the "Rooted In Nature" bundle. I like to try to use my stash but am always happy to make something new when needed.
I used markers to color the stamps, Tranquil Tide for the tree leaves and Soft Suede for the trunk and the sentiment. I distressed the cardstock edges using the dull side of the scissors to achieve a less torn look, it has more of a bent up, crumpled look. I've seen this on a couple of swaps and have been wanting to try it out. I like the look. It bulks up the card. Ah, and I used Whisper White thick cardstock for the tree and sentiment which also helped give the card a beefier look. I plan to use this technique more often!
I chose to embellish with a wrap of knotted twine with the edges frayed.
Basic White Thick Cardstock 8 1/2 x 11
This 110lb paper is great for card bases! Note: this cardstock is the replacement for Whisper...
