Hi, My name is Trace Marie and I am joining the March Colour Combo blog hop today from the Pacific Northwest in Washington State (US). I hope you enjoy my project and if you started your hop with me, please click the next image to go to the next blog. Be sure to visit everyone's blogs to see all of their awesome creations!

This month's colors are: Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black and Daffodil Delight.

The floral background layer is free with a $50 purchase through March 31st. This Sale-A-Bration product is called Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is colored with Daffodil Delight both light and dark Blends to color the flowers and the Old Olive light Blend for the leaves as it was the closest match to Pear Pizzazz. The same colors are used on the flowers in the "happy" focal image which was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

The Happy and Birthday sentiments are also free Sale-A-Bration items, from the stamp set called Happy Wishes. To qualify for this free item you need to spent $100.

Aside from coloring, this project is all about the mat layers. Even the thin strip of silver lined DSP is matted with black. I don't often use alot of mats so this was fun to push myself out of my comfort zone and work through the visual consistency in the mats.

Here  are the actual dimensions from top to bottom:

Focal layer - 3 3/4 x 2 5/16 inches
Black mat - 4 x 2 9/16 inches
The above is popped up with dimensionals
Silver strip - 3/8 inch
Black mat - 9/16 inch
Background - 5 1/16 x 3 3/4 inches
Black Mat - 5 3/8 x 4 inches
Pear Pizzazz base - 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches

Here is my cutting strategy. I cut the focal by eye and then cut the mats working my way outward. I use a mini guillotine cutter and trim even the thinnest sliver until the mat looks good to my eye. As a result, many of my measurements using a ruler will be down to the sixteenths of an inch.

I found coloring the Springtime Foils DSP to be quick and easy. I made a short video showing a couple of coloring options. Video length 5 min 16 sec.
