How to keep track of websites content and images
Stuffnthingz is growing by leaps and bounds and it is a constant battle to keep track of all its content. Work on Stuffnthingz websites happens all the time and in any location. Because of the nature of its mobility, all reference information such as .asp files, databases and images need to be mobile as well.
So SNT's mobile data storage needs must accomodate: website files, database content and CafePress graphics. I am an active shop keeper at
CafePress with many hundreds of designs in high res .psd format as well as the 2000 x 2000 .png files that get loaded up on
the CP site. As you can imagine this requires lots of disk space.
So, I use 1 gig USB flash drive that holds all my websites content .asp and .sql extracts (the database content) and for my images I use a 2 gig USB flash drive.
This is the 2 gig drive i have and it works well. Since these travel with me I look for a USB drive with a good lid to protect the connector, and some form of attaching mechanism like a ring or some such. The 1 gig drive has no lid, no finger grips and no ring so I will not be buying another of that style, it is a Lexar. I really like this one, and here is an awesome deal, the best price I have found.
I have a 120gig USB hard drive for main storage. It is of course much larger but at least everything is in one place.
This is the device that I bought and it is working very well. Buy.com has it for a very good price.
