A funny getting old story
One sign of getting old is forgetting things or putting things in wrong places. For instance there's the putting the Ice Cream in the fridge, the milk in the cupboard with the cereal, losing keys etc. Well my husband really topped the charts with his absent mindedness.

It was a saturday morning, I had just had surgery so was home for the day to recouperate. He had to head out to help his brother-in-law with a house doing some wiring. Evidentally he could not find his Jeep keys anywhere so he loaded up my truck. I was resting and did not know he had left.

A little later in the morning I am bored so I figure I will go out and putter around and clean out the RV and horse trailer. I notice that the truck is gone. I called Scott and we chatted. He told me about the missing Jeep keys and that he would be home later so I could work on the trailer (the keys to it are on the truck key ring - no spare, already lost them). I was emptying all of the basement storage compartments to get ready for winter when I heard an idling car. I open the gate and the only car there is the Jeep.

I am thinking now that is odd. Scott could not find the keys, why is it running? I cautiously approach it. When I touched the handle it was hot to the touch, and locked. I could not believe it. Late last night he had ran to the corner store for a snack and evidentally had locked the keys in the Jeep with it still running. Now that is a feat. Then to top that off, with all three vehicles in close proximity, he moved his equipment from the van to the truck and never heard the poor Jeep running.

I diligently searched for our spare Jeep keys and found them... "whew". When I opened the door, heat rolled out the door. I turned the motor off, let the Jeep cool and started it up later and was soooo relieved that it started right up.

I also took note of the gas gauge. It still had over 3/4 of a tank. So I can say with some authority that idling a car for well over 10 hours does not use much gas.
