Tis the Season Leaping Deer Card | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

This is a mix of my two favorite Christmas card styles. Distressed wood grain with layers of stars mixed with woodland deer. I colored the seam tape ribbon with Copic Marker (G29) and Alcohol to give the varied green, I scrunched it up in a baggie then took it out to dry. I layered a very fine white lace ribbon with it to make the bow. I used some textured mint green holiday craftpaper for the large star which I distressed with Vintage Photo distress ink.

The deer and sentiment (Stampin' Up) were cut from kraft paper. Both were edged with Vintage Photo. I struggled with a sentiment and found inspiration from today's Splitcoast Stamper's Inspiration challenge, which is all about journaling and hand lettering. I don't write well enough to pen a sentiment but I did find a unique stamp that I embellished it a bit with this pin in mind: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/387591111655098207/. I used white embossing powder for the sentiment and then lined the right side of the text for a shadow effect using the fine side of a Distress Ink Marker - Gathered Twigs. I then followed the board since I do aspire to journal one day soon.

I used Patina and German Silver GIlder's paste on the star to bring out the texture. I cut the wood background out using a Lil' Inkers Stitched rectangle die. I tore and distressed the edges then spondged Vintage Photo over the distressed paper. The white pine sprigs are die cuts.

I made this card for the following challenges:

Oh my goodness - I love your card!  Beautiful colour combination, I love the antique, aged look that the rusty orange gives and it goes with the green perfectly! Fantastic card - thanks for sharing it with us at MAWTT, I hope you'll join us again soon, Emma (DT)
