This is my favorite project from the retreat. I accomplished alot of organization projects and made a few cards. I do think it is interesting that I lean toward larger organization projects over crafting at retreats. I think it is because I have long stretches of uninterrupted time so I know I can complete something no matter how long it takes. A card is easier to make at home because it fits in a shorter time box which is typical of my free time at home.

Back to this lovely card. The background was made with my new Distree Oxide inks:Faded Jeans, Cracked Pistachio and Worn Lipstick (many, many layers, I think at least eight and perhaps as many as ten). This is one of the three test backgrounds I made and two of them were good enough to be cards. Then I stenciled over using Faded Jeans and Wilted Violet. The stencil I used is a collage with all of the elements you see on it. I found a perfect sentiment and used Grape Jelly Memento ink (bottom left corner, it is very soft looking). The clouds look white but they are silver foil cardstock. Dream is two layers thick for some added dimension.

I used white/silver/ab sequins, small clear rhinestones (the small ones from Stampin' Up!) and spun silver thread under the clouds and dream. I matted it with a very thin white, and behind that a little thicker mat of navy. The distress oxide dries powdery feeling but none of it rubs off. When stenciling with the oxide on oxide, the top stencil layer will also dry soft, but not chalky if you don't activate it with water, which I did not. These are lovely inks I am already on the hunt for a set of the summer release. There should also be a fall release coming very soon!

I bought the re-inkers and used blank Stampin' Up Spot cubes to save space (I've linked the article below). When I made this card, I used re-inker directly on my craft mat. When I've done subsequent backgrounds by applying ink from the cube and prewetting, the finish is a little different. Be sure to play alot with these inks, they have alot to offer ad they are very unique!

Great idea!  Great card!  Thank you for joining us at Connie Can Crop's monthly challenge.  Good luck

This is really an original and beautiful card!  I love how you created the design and incorporated traditional elements in such interesting ways.  This is really cool-looking and I am impressed at both the gorgeous background and the focal points.  It was a treat to see and I'm so glad you shared your skills with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!

Very pretty! Thank you for joining Connie Can Crop's monthly challenge!
