I decided today was going to be a coloring day. I pulled out my thick file of printed and stamped Copic coloring images. These are all on Copic Coloring cardstock, so either Neenah Solar Crest or Copic Blending Card X-Press It.

I'd already reviewed this week's challenges and wanted to enter the Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #51 - Tropical Theme. I always have some Newton's Nook images in the to be colored folder because their style of stamp is a coloring stamp which I love. I found some copy paper prints from their freebies page online. I colored both images, but only one is tropical so that is the one I went with.

I focused on the background first creating sand and ocean diagonal along the background of the flip flops. Then I searched for coordinating matting cardstock and went with a teal, navy, sand and a hint of orange. I pulled out some chunky burlap netting for added edge interest. I pulled out my Holtz mini stapler and used it generously.

For the Simon Says Stamp Challenge - You've got the edge, I went with lots of layers and  various edge treatments. I used Gina Marie's 'X' stitched dies circles and rectangles and also cut a fishtail banner using her stitched banner dies. For added separation between the fishtail banner and the navy background I added a fishtail mat of vellum. This is a six layer card, but I still believe it will mail USPS first class as I only popped up the focal circle.

Copic Sketch markers used:

  • Sand: E42, E43, E44
  • Ocean: BG10, BG11, BG13
  • Flipflops: YR02, YR82, RV02

I am entering this project in the following challenges:
