Kre8tors March 2019 Blog Hop - Bye Bye SAB | Tracy Marie Lewis | www.stuffnthingz.com

Another month has flown by and it is time for the March Kre8tors blog hop! This month the team is saying good bye to Sale-A-Bration which concludes at the end of March. It consists of a variety of free products, some have sold out, but my project's products are still available while supplies last.

I have to give my team leader, Libby Foreman, a shout out because she was instrumental in the creation of this project. We had an online mini retreat last sunday. We like to pick criteria and then we go to town (figuratively) and make our projects at the same time, not really looking at what the other is going (we are online using Hangouts so you can't even see what the other person is doing).

While creating away, we talk about this and that and then once we finish we have a reveal and discuss each other's finished project. It is a great way to spend time with a friend as well as talk "shop". We've done this in person when we lived close to each other and it also works well online even though we are thousand of miles apart. She provided the inspiration for this project, it is a Pinterest pin. Check it out as it is a very nice design. The one criteria we added was to make a shabby chic version of it.

This project uses the stamp set  "Home To Roost". It is free with a $50 purchase. I added many fun layers, spending time to add distressing using "Timeless Textures" - the lined and splotch stamps - these have become my go to distressing/aging stamps. The color I use for the stamping as well as sponging is Crumb Cake with some Early Espresso if I want to go really dark. I did also use the filigree stamp from "Timeless Textures" on the Gingham Gala yellow DSP. The yellow DSP has been ripped and crinkled up into a ball 2x then flattened back out and then a couple more tears were added which had the edges rolled up.

In order to keep the crinkles alive I added dimensionals at random places under the gingham to give it alot of lift off the wood texture background. Speaking of thw wood texture. That background was created by swiping "Early Espresso on the Pinewood Planks embossing folder, then I ran it through the Big Shot.  Three wraps of linen thread tied in a bow with a knot of the Whisper White Polka Dot trim was also added.

The green leafy die cut was stamped with the lined stamp and Crumb Cake and some of the leaf centers were left in place. This die is one of my favorites from the Occasions catalog "Well Written" die set.  I created one small yellow flower from the four petal flower dies also from "Well Written". Ironically this die set is all about the words in it, but I find the "extra" dies from that set are very fun and useful. I use them more than the words!

The sentiment comes with the rooster and I heat embossed it in white on Basic Black cardstock. The scalloped border is from the "Be Mine" die set which is also in the Occasions catalog. The last embellishing was two small pearls colored using Blends. I should point out that only the rooster and sentiment are going away and they are part of the "Home To Roost" stamp set. Everything else is current through May and I am sure a few items will carry over to the next annual catalog which goes live in June.

Now lets talk about this colorful rooster. He was stamped on the large label from "Stitched All Around" using Memento Tuxedo Black and was then colored using Blends as follows:

Pineappe Punch light and dark
Daffodil Delight light and dark
Granny Apple Green light and dark
Poppy Parad light and dark
Balmy Blue light
Crumb Cake light

Before I go I'd like to share Libby's rooster. We like to tease and say 'Wouldn't it be funny if they looked the same". Alas, we've never even came close to looking similar.

I hope you like these projects!
