| I have now 4 books for watercolor and colored pencils. Each book covers the basics, but they each expand into their own unique demonstrations and studies, making them all useful to a budding young artist. |

A christmas present, filled with demonstrations. lots of outdoor practice including demonstrations on atmospheric and natural effects, like smoke, water ripples, foliage etc. One section is intriguing to me, though I am not ready to tackle it just yet, it is a section on how to approach watercolor on a large scale |

This came with the above book for Christmas. I like the seascapes section. In fact this section is what I used to do my first wave painting. There is a section on animals as well as children in watercolor. I practiced seagulls as well. |

This book has been very handy for me as I explore Watercolor painting after a 25 year sabbatical. The explanations are good, and the book is indeed FAT, or full of examples and step-by-step practice lessons. Over the holiday(2006) I did a study on desert colors. Continuing the landscape theme, I used an exercise from this book in June 2006 to practice painting forests. I documented the steps I took and scanned in the piece at variuos steps along the way. Read my How To I created. |

I think this book could have some more Step-by-steps, but this isn't a "BIG FAT" book like the watercolor book. it was very helpful for me to use it since I have very little experience with colored pencils. I don't feel I am very good at colored pencil, I think the medium lacks the details I tend to like to work on. I have a few nice colored pieces out of exploring, and without this book I would never have finished any pieces at all.
